I got a copy of my friend Leidra Lawson’s book and devoured it. But there was one thing that stood out. She says that ‘women are still thought of as sexual objects’.
C’mon Leidra, this is the 21st century and for my daughter’s sake I hope you are wrong.
So why do I think that this is a stereotype? Well, because in the past 10 years at least, women have made some great strides in business, acting , visibility in society etc.
I see it even on Wall street where I work. You now have senior managers and wealthy traders who are women. And sure, they do look good and some are very attractive.
But first and foremost their employers still employ them (and pay some of them really big bucks!) because they do a job, not because they have a nice figure. Of course their hot figure is just an extra. But to say that someone is thought of as a sexual being alone, is so 1980s.
I would respectfully disagree with that comment.
